In the Fall of 2021, fate and Java class brought us together at UTSA. Halfway through the semester, we started talking about our class projects—only to find out that Trent had no idea there were even projects to begin with. (A moment that still makes me giggle.) From then on, our study sessions quickly became study dates, to real dates. After many days filled with laughter, late conversations (+ Whataburger runs), and a connection that felt effortless, it was clear that he is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. On December 19th, 2021, we officially became a couple.

After having experienced the three best years of my life, I realized there was really only one thing left to do, propose. Now proposing to a one-of-a-kind girl requires a one-of-a-kind engagement so, for our three year anniversary I surprised Kaylee by taking her to the U.S Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. John. After informing my parents of my plans to propose they didn't ask any 'are you sure' questions (of course), but they did ask: 'If you're taking her to the Caribbean to get engaged, where the heck would you go for the honeymoon?' - I probably should have thought about that.
