How we met

09/12/2019

“Hi, I’m Sean and this is Shane…. I’m going to go get some water!” That is the sentence that began it all when Shane’s coworker at the time introduced us. We were management’s nightmare, more focused on spending time with each other and sneaking kisses than working, but 7 years and two careers later somehow we figured it out! Who would have thought the garden girl with the braids who waved and said hello to the kid with the work boots and jean jacket would be getting married! From those first few weeks it was clear we were meant for each other. Our conversations held no pressure or structure. It was a boundary-less relationship where every moment was spent learning one another. We brought out the best in each other using our individual dreams and goals to guide us to our shared future. We grew up together, kids with a lot of love for each other and dreams of our future, to step by step making those dreams reality discovering more and more love along the way!

Our 4 legged kids!

Barking is our theme song

Before there was a Shane there was a Diesel and if he could talk he’d tell you he’s my first true love! But in the months that he was an only dog, it was clear he wasn’t happy. So, we took a road trip to Pennsylvania and came home with a fluffy little puppy with one blue eye named Ghost. We took him to get an authentic Philly cheesesteak, almost lost him in the first 2 hours of having him, and absolutely fell completely in love with him. When we brought Ghost home Diesel earned the title of grumpy old man, but it was clear a companion was what he needed. It was the 4 of us for a while until Grace and Nina rejoined our family. Nina sadly crossed the rainbow bridge to heaven shortly thereafter. Gracie has permanently become the smallest pack member, but don’t let her size hide her sass! 12 paws in our house was plenty for us and we had no plans on getting another puppy anytime soon. Until Scout came along. He was a little island puppy who wasn’t expected to survive his first 48 hours after being found. His eyes were crusted shut from infection, vets believing he had no eyes at all, sick with parvo and full of worms quarantined to a shower in his foster moms house. Miraculously he survived those 48 hours, and when he finally opened his eyes, he had one blue and one brown eye just like Ghost. On his first day out of quarantine we found him in the arms of his foster mom’s friend in St. Thomas. “He’s up for adoption” he said. Thanks… but no thanks… we definitely have enough dogs as it is! Several days later after we got locked out of our hotel room by a cat the waitress who helped us said “you could adopt that cat you know!” Nope. No cats. “It’s funny you say that, someone offered us a puppy the other day!” “Was it this one?” Turns her phone to show a picture of the same puppy Scout we had just met the other day. I looked to Shane… he shook his head… “that puppy is coming home with us” and home with us he came! 12 paws became 16 and I can confidently say that we will NOT be getting any more dogs any time soon! 😂

The FIRST proposal

December 22nd, 2019

Many have never heard this story but it is proof that when you know, you know! Shane and I met in September of 2019. On December 22nd, 2019 we went into Boston and got dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Following our dinner we went on a romantic walk together under the Boston Christmas light displays. At the end of the walk he got down on one knee and proposed to me with the heart shaped pandora ring I still wear. I knew I loved him, I knew I wanted to marry him, but we still had so much we had to learn before we got married. “Of course I’ll marry you” I said! We posed for pictures with the ring on my hand, young and in love. After the initial excitement wore off we discussed the seriousness of an engagement, and ultimately, decided the ring will be my promise ring until we were ready for the maturity of an engagement. So technically we were engaged for 6.5 years before the official engagement announcement!
