One of Braga’s most famous landmarks is Bom Jesus do Monte (pictured), a stunning hilltop church with breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Guests can enjoy charming plazas, boutique shops, traditional Portuguese restaurants, and local bakeries—making Braga the perfect base for exploring the area during our wedding weekend.

Gerês is a beautiful mountain and lakeside destination in northern Portugal, nestled within Peneda-Gerês National Park. The area is known for its scenic lakes with sandy beaches, where visitors can swim, kayak, paddleboard, and rent small boats. Along the waterfront, you’ll find charming cafés and restaurants—perfect for enjoying coffee, wine, and local Portuguese dishes with stunning views of the water and mountains. Gerês is about 45 mins to 1 hour (roughly 45 miles) from Braga, making it an easy and picturesque getaway for our wedding guests.

Visitors can stroll along the picturesque Ribeira District, relax at riverside cafés and wine bars, take a boat cruise on the Douro River, or cross the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge for breathtaking views of the city. Porto also offers beautiful beaches, boutique shopping, and incredible seafood and Portuguese cuisine. Porto is approximately 45 to 60 minutes (about 34 miles) from Braga, making it an easy and exciting day trip for our wedding guests.

Fátima is a major Catholic pilgrimage site famous for the apparitions of the Virgin Mary seen by three shepherd children in 1917. Millions visit annually to see the sites where the visions occurred, the homes of the children in Aljustrel, and to attend services, making it a key spiritual destination in central Portugal. Fátima is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours (about 125 miles) from Braga, making it a wonderful day trip or overnight excursion for guests who wish to experience one of Portugal’s most sacred sites.
