Our Love Story It all started when they were just sixteen. Kaylee still remembers the moment she first laid eyes on Mike, she couldn’t believe how cute (and absurdly muscular?) a teenage boy could be. They met during a weekend at the Bond’s cottage, where the early sparks were undeniable… even if they respectfully kept their distance. Mike’s dad even popped by for a visit, meeting the parents on day one? The loud cop was a little intimidating, but Kaylee quickly learned he was just as kind as he was commanding. Over the next few years, they crossed paths occasionally at social gatherings. Mike was always busy with hockey or maybe he just wasn’t invited to the right parties (we’ll let him tell that side). But it wasn’t until their high school grad trip to Cuba, surrounded by their best friends, that things really changed. That week sealed the deal, there was something special here. The summer that followed, they were inseparable. But with Kaylee heading off to The University of Guelph, she wasn’t sure it made sense to start something serious with a guy from home. That doubt lasted… maybe a week? Once she got to Guelph, she knew of course she wanted to be with him. Mike didn’t hesitate. He spent the next year driving to Guelph every chance he got, often spending more time on the road than actually in town. The next year, he “coincidentally” chose Guelph for school too, though to this day he claims it wasn’t because of her. They spent the next three years living just down the street from one another. Her friends quickly became his and his became hers. Since then, they’ve grown up and grown closer. Through all the milestones of their twenties, graduations, new careers, a global pandemic, and everything in between their love remained constant. They bought and renovated their first home together, adopted their fur baby Murphy (who is, yes, very much treated like their child), and continued building a life full of cozy mornings, inside jokes, and unwavering support. And then, on August 22, 2024, Mike got down on one knee and asked Kaylee to marry him. She was completely surprised, overjoyed, and said yes without hesitation. They celebrated with some of the people who mean the most to them and now, they can’t wait to continue that celebration with all of you. They're so excited to say "I do" in Portugal, and can’t wait to see you there.
