It all started in Marshall, MN. Kyle was a wrestler, and Kaylee played softball at Southwest Minnesota State University — Go Mustangs! With limited things to do around town, it was only a matter of time before the two crossed paths. They finally met at a social gathering during their freshman year, thanks to mutual friends. Somehow, it took six months on campus before their paths finally collided! Kyle and Kaylee quickly became great friends, and after Kyle asked Kaylee to be his girlfriend a few times, they decided to give it a shot. They dated through the rest of college, graduating in 2020 — right in the middle of the COVID pandemic. After graduation, Kyle began student teaching in Worthington while Kaylee played one more year of softball for the Mustangs in Marshall. Kyle then accepted his first teaching job in Willmar, and Kaylee began her career in the Mustang Athletic Department, continuing the long-distance life for a bit longer. In the spring of 2022, Kaylee moved back home and started working for the University of St. Thomas. Shortly after, Kyle accepted a teaching position in Bloomington, and just like that, the long-distance chapter came to a close. Since then, they’ve been inseparable — enjoying nightly walks, playing pickleball and golf, and just spending time together. In February, Kyle got down on one knee and proposed in true “Kyle fashion” — as they were running late for a dinner reservation. A month later, they brought home their black lab, Ace, and have since settled into their place in Shakopee. If you know Kyle and Kaylee, you know they’re truly best friends. They laugh together, support each other, and (most importantly) spoil Ace together.
