In keeping with Chinese tradition, monetary gifts are often given instead of traditional boxed presents. These gifts are placed in red envelopes, which symbolize luck and prosperity, conveying your heartfelt wishes for the newlyweds. Red envelopes will be provided on the day of the event. The bride and groom will personally visit every table to express their gratitude for your presence at the reception. During this special moment, one person from each table will be chosen to share a brief speech of well wishes. After the speech, the designated speaker will present the red envelopes to the bride and groom. We understand that this tradition may be unfamiliar to some, and we want you to feel comfortable. If you prefer not to participate in the red envelope custom, a wedding registry will be available for those who wish to give a gift. Your presence and support truly mean everything to the bride and groom. It is important to them for you to feel at ease with how you choose to participate. Having you celebrate with us on this special day would be a true honor for our family.
This wedding will be unique from the aspect of respecting both of the family's culture and traditions through two days of celebration. On Friday, we will be honoring Kaylee's Chinese heritage with a traditional Chinese wedding ceremony. Chinese wedding ceremonies are typically intimate and are for close friends and family. On Saturday, we will honor Justin's family tradition with an American ceremony.
Please arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of the ceremony so you have time to park and be seated.
The tea ceremony is a traditional Chinese wedding custom. This intimate event is reserved for the bride and groom's families and closest friends, and attendance is by invitation only.
For women, cocktail attire is encouraged. For men, please wear a suit jacket with dress pants and a button-down shirt. The bride will be in a traditional red Chinese gown. Red is designated for the bride. Please refrain from wearing red.
The dress code for Saturday is black-tie. Think elegant gowns, black tuxedos/suits, and your most polished looks — we want everyone to feel like they’re attending a gala! Gowns do not need to be black. They can be spring and summer colors.
Please attend the ceremony to which you have received an invitation. We understand that you may not have been invited to both ceremonies, and we ask that you don’t take it personally, as this decision is based on tradition. We kindly request that you respond as soon as possible regarding the event you will be able to attend, as it would be a true honor to have you celebrate our special day with us.
