Colt and I met at the Fall Festival in Beardstown in September of 2017. Colt's cousin Abby just so happens to be my best friend, and she invited him to hang out with all of us that night. Colt and I hit it off immediately and we spent the entire night talking and flirting. We ended up by ourselves at Abby and Jared's house in the early morning hours, talking and listening to Luke Combs. We traded numbers and spent the next week texting back and forth. About a week later, we went to Leo's on our first date. After he left my house that night, I called my mom and told her that I was going to marry him. And now here we are!
I have a habit of finding things out, even by accident! So Colt knew he would have to be super sneaky in order to surprise me with an engagement. He invited me to Mt. Sterling to celebrate his birthday-July 26. Colt wanted to cook steaks on the grill, so the plan was just a quiet birthday dinner with us and his dad. Before dinner, he asked me to run to the farm with him to check on cattle, and we wanted to measure out the spot where we hope to build our forever home. I took one end of the tape measure and walked until he said stop. When I turned around, the sun was in my eyes, so it took me a few minutes to actually see him down on one knee. He asked me to give him the best birthday gift ever: Being his wife!
