We actually met on Bumble (it's a dating app) believe, it or not. We had been talking for a few days when he got sent down south for hurricane relief. A few days after not hearing from him, he texted me inviting me to a "Ranch Party with cold beer". Before I could respond, he texted me again, letting me know the ranch party was in fact his brothers wedding, he was the best man, and still needed a date. The night before the wedding I asked what our story was, how did we meet...Casey replied with "church...duh". I told him I was all for lying about how we met but we had to leave God out of it LOL. We decided meeting at the gun range was a safe story, little did I know he had already told all of the guys where he actually met me. We had never met before the wedding. We were standing under the back porch of the venue, when he came up to me, introduced himself for the first time and gave me a hug. The rest of the evening was spent laughing, dancing, and making new friends. After the reception was over, everyone went to the saloon to keep the party going and play pool. We didn't want to leave that place or lose the butterflies we both were feeling. The best part of our story is we are going back to that very place to say "I do" at the Lucky Spur Ranch.
Casey proposed to me on Christmas Eve in the apartment. We had just gotten home from dinner with my parents and I was getting ready to crawl in bed. He was rummaging through the closet and said "Hey babe, is this yours?" I said "well, let me see it". He motioned me over to the closet and I was in a slightly sassy mood (go figure). He turned around and was on one knee. Honestly, it was perfect.
Christmas Eve day John, Kaylee’s dad, and I️ went out to their property. I️ had been trying to find the right time to ask for her hand but it proved itself to be harder than I️ thought. It was freezing that day. We both stood there, in the middle of the open pasture, freezing like no other, but neither us were going to admit we were cold. Every time I️ would take a step forward, John would take another step towards the dog and throw the ball. He was testing me...I️ kept trying to gather my words for probably 45 minutes trying not to bring up how I️ couldn’t even feel my hands I️ was so cold. Meanwhile, I’m pretty sure he had hand warmers in his jacket. Finally, I️ spit out something that probably didn’t make any sense, but it was me asking for his blessing. John did have one thing to apologize for though...and it was for raising Kaylee with such expensive taste. He said “everybody has a hobby, something they liked spending money on, and mine was Audrey and Kaylee. And I️ apologize for that. I️ raised her with expensive taste, and that’s now yours to carry. Good luck”.
