Kaylan grew up in North Carolina and Jeremy in New Jersey, but their story truly began in Washington, D.C. When Kaylan was 20 and Jeremy was 22, they both spent the summer in D.C. participating in the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s internship program. What started as a friendship during that unforgettable summer quickly turned into a lasting bond, and before long they had become best friends. Over the next decade, life took them in different directions. Kaylan eventually made her way to Atlanta, while Jeremy built his life in New York City. Even as the years passed and miles separated them, they always stayed in touch and made a point to see each other whenever they could. In 2023, Jeremy decided to make a change and moved to Atlanta—where his mom’s side of the family now lives—planning to stay just a few months to see what the city had to offer. More than ten years after that summer in Washington, he and Kaylan reconnected. This time, their friendship turned into something more. What began as catching up quickly became the start of a new chapter neither of them saw coming. From that moment on, the two have been inseparable.
