We met at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, where we both played lacrosse. (Who the better player was is still up for debate.) We shared our first date at Cafe Sado, Chestertown's local sushi restaurant. After graduation, in the start of the pandemic, we started long distance. Matt moved to Dallas and Kayla started law school in Delaware. For four years we traveled between Dallas, Towson, Boston and New Jersey. We decided to save some money on flights and move in together in the summer of 2024. After five years of dating, Matt thought it was best to take the next step in our relationship in the same place it started. After some planning and strategic lying, Matt surprised Kayla with a proposal in Chestertown. No one is sure Kayla actually said "Yes" since she was jumping and screaming "Really?!" the entire proposal. In fact, Matt had to say, "Can you let me talk?" to actually ask. We are so excited to get married and celebrate with our family and friends!
