Things To Do

Things to do in the 'burgh!
Frick Park (or any of the five Pittsburgh Parks!!!)

Frick Park (or any of the five Pittsburgh Parks!!!)

1981 Beechwood Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

Frick Park is Kayla's personal favorite, but each park is pretty incredible. They are all gorgeous, escapes into nature without leaving the City. The Frick Environmental Center houses a Lending Library, which includes various assistive resources, including hiking poles, rollators, sensory bags, and more! Plus, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy hosts lots of events -- maybe try Forest Bathing while you're in town?

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

1 Schenley Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
, 412-622-6914

Phipps is a must-see! Their current flower show is Alice in Wonderland - check it out! Phipps is also located in Schenley Park, one of the five Pittsburgh Regional Parks, and right near our alma mater, University of Pittsburgh.

University of Pittsburgh

University of Pittsburgh

Our alma mater!!!! The Cathedral of Learning is the tallest educational building in the Western Hemisphere and is home to 31 Nationality Rooms, celebrating 31 cultures of the world.

West End Overlook Park

West End Overlook Park

921 Rue Grande Vue St, Pittsburgh, PA 15220

We brought Jojo here after a vet/neurology appointment for a lunch date and to see the beautiful view of the City!

Pittsburgh's Cultural District

Pittsburgh's Cultural District

803 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
, 412-471-6070

Cole and I love the five art galleries downtown with rotating exhibitions and FREE admission: Wood Street Galleries, Space, 707 Gallery, 820 Gallery, and 937 Gallery. Also: Visit Arts Landing, a brand new, outdoor community-focused space with public art, events, food trucks, and more! (and let us know how it is because we haven't been yet!) See public art placed throughout the Cultural District, including several artist-designed, functional bike racks. Visit the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, one of the largest Black multidisciplinary arts centers in the country. Catch a play, musical, comedy set, or a film at one of the theaters!

Point State Park

Point State Park

601 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

The Point marks the confluence of Pittsburgh's three rivers, the Ohio, the Allegheny, and the Monongahela! It's a cute, small park with a fountain and views of Heinz Field, PNC Park, the Duquesne Incline, and more!

Fort Pitt Museum

Fort Pitt Museum

601 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

The Point also features the outlines of the former Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne, for any history buffs out there. Jake and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Fort Pitt Museum.

Senator John Heinz History Center

Senator John Heinz History Center

1212 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
, 412-454-6000

This is an AWESOME museum. There's something for everyone here, even if you're not all that into history: Sports fan? Check out the Franco Harris Sports Museum. Foodie? There's an entire exhibit on Heinz (yes, of Heinz ketchup). Science geek? Check out the exhibit on Pittsburgh Innovation -- there's an entire section dedicated to medical and technological innovations. Fun fact: Dr. Jonas Salk developed the first effective polio vaccine at the University of Pittsburgh! Trying to get your steps in? Take the SmartSteps! (There's a prize for climbing all six sets of stairs 🥒) Looking for a good neighbor? Visit Mister Rogers' Neighborhood! Fred Rogers is from Latrobe, PA, about an hour outside of Pittsburgh, and his show was filmed here, in Pittsburgh.

National Aviary

National Aviary

700 Arch Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
, 412-323-7235

"The National Aviary is America’s only independent indoor nonprofit zoo dedicated to birds." (and sloths!) The Aviary is highly recommended by our very own Matron of Honor, Phoebe!
