We technically first met in our freshman year architecture studio at Virginia Tech, but we never really got to know each other too well. A couple years later, we ended up in the same studio again…but, we still didn’t interact much. That is, until halfway through the semester, Kayla invited Caleb to join a game night with some friends. There was drinking, laughing, and dinosaur impressions that quickly led to us becoming best friends. We hung out often and texted just about everyday, including when she traveled abroad and there was a 6 hour time difference between us. When Kayla returned, we quickly made plans to see each other. It was then that Kayla finally admitted that she liked Caleb "a lot,” he went in for the kiss, and the rest is history!

On May 1, 2021, we went back to our old stomping grounds at Virginia Tech. Under the guise of celebrating the Kentucky Derby, we all got dressed up and went out to enjoy some wine and the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains at Beliveau Winery. When the right moment came up, Caleb got down on one knee and (after struggling to remove the ring from his jacket) asked Kayla to marry him. She said "Yes," and we popped the champagne! We can't wait to share this special occasion with you, and to start our lives together.
