The story of how we met is a little hazy. We met at a bowling alley in Bolingbrook where Zach and our friends would frequent on the weekends. Neither one of us remembers the year it was or even what month...somewhere around 2012. Zach remembers meeting Kayla...but Kayla doesn't remember meeting Zach. Fast forward several months and we connected one night at our friend Justin's house for the NIU bowl game. The rest is pretty much history.

Our engagement story is one for the books. We took a short trip March 2021 to Hawaii with some of our best friends. Zach kept mentioning to Kayla that he wanted to go on a sunrise hike or sunrise walk down the beach at some point of the trip, just the two of them. They ended up extending the trip by one day to spend more time with Kayla's brother who was stationed in Hawaii at the time. The last morning they decided to get up at 5am to do a sunrise hike on a trail called Pill Box in Lanikai. An hour later, several photos, double-rainbows and a panoramic video, Kayla turned around to Zach down on one knee! It was more than they both could have wished for!
