Things To Do

After living here for 5 years, we have a little list of go-tos when friends come to town. Far from comprehensive, but we're only a text away if you want other suggestions!

Freedom Trail

Freedom Trail, Boston, MA

If you're a history buff, this is a must. If not, it's a great way to get a nice walking tour of Boston. We'd recommend either starting in the North End (Old North Church) working your way to Boston Commons (State House) or reverse. No need for maps, just follow the brick path built into the sidewalk.

Charles River Esplanade

Storrow Drive, Boston, MA 02116

A walk or run down the Esplanade is quintessential Boston! When we lived in Back Bay, we'd regularly do loops around the Esplanade, crossing the BU and Mass Ave bridges.

Museum of Science / Duck Boat Tours

1 Science Park, Boston, MA 02114

A hit from Kayla's childhood, we still regularly go for a fun afternoon. This is also one of the locations that Duck Boats leave from - Trent's favorite land and water tour of Boston. Literally, he goes every year. Definitely would recommend.

Newbury Street

Newbury Street, Boston, MA

A bit touristy, but where all the nice restaurants and shopping is in Back Bay. If you walk all the way down, you'll also go past the Boston Public Library and make your way to the Public Gardens. And, we used to live right down Mass Ave near the Berklee School of Music!

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum / MFA

25 Evans Way, Boston, MA 02115

Located right near each other, these two museums are typically the ones that always get the highest reviews. Though candidly, as someone who does not appreciate art as much as she should, Kayla has never been to either...

Fenway Park

4 Jersey Street, Boston, MA 02215

Catch a Red Sox game if you can, or tour the park. Go Sox!

Pho Pasteur

Boston, MA

Is this really the best restaurant in Boston? Likely not. However, the #13 Pho Ga and #52 Beef Vermicelli are the restaurant food we probably eat the most on an average year. Other Chinatown recs include Hei La Moon for Dim Sum, Nan Xiang Express for dumplings, and Gene's Flatbread Cafe for hand-pulled noodles.

Boda Borg Boston

90 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA 02148

A bunch of different escape rooms that you can try to beat in groups of 4-5. It's a bit of a drive, but Trent especially is a huge fan. And, it's the only Boda Borg in the US!
