Question

What should I do if I am not able to attend?

Answer

You will be missed! If you cannot make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “will not attend,” so we can plan accordingly. You may do so by replying within the RSVP tab on our website or by calling Ann at 610-657-5519 to give a verbal response.

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code will be semi-formal: Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses.

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend arriving one hour before the start of the ceremony, to make sure that everyone is on time and we can get the party started as scheduled!

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

Charleston during the summer is known to be muggy, hot, and for quick summer showers. Good news is the showers grant quite the relief, but it would be a good idea to pack an umbrella. Also, due to the swampy climate, bugs can be a pesky problem! Pack plenty of sunscreen and of bug spray (it should be noted that Middleton Place Gardens DOES NOT allow bug spray to be sprayed while on the grounds--spray before arrival).

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

The bride, groom, and bridal party will be whisked away for pictures for an hour. The guests will be escorted to cocktail hour at the Crane Pool. Here guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar to start the party! Promptly at 7:30PM our guests will move to where the reception will be held. Here we will eat, drink, dance, and above all celebrate!

Where should guests park? Is parking free?

Answer

Parking is free for all of our guests, and there would be lawn parking on site. For accessibility, there will be a 5-passenger golf cart shuttling guests to the event space. The golf cart will also be available to take guests to cocktail hour and to our reception space. Again, if you choose to stay at the Middleton Inn, there will also be a shuttle to the venue from your accommodations.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both! The ceremony will be held in the Octagonal Gardens which is an outdoor venue and the reception will be held inside at the Pavilion (on-site).

Are you having an unplugged ceremony?

Answer

Yes. We have hired a photographer to capture how this moment looks with their camera, so that you can be fully present and capture how this moment feels with your hearts!

What is not permitted at the wedding?

Answer

No weapons or drug paraphernalia of any kind are permitted, per Middleton Place management.

Question

Can I smoke on the property?

Answer

Middleton Place is a non-smoking property. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside of the Formal Gardens, the Stable Yards, or on the Greensward; however, guests may smoke on the side of the Pavilion (the Reception space).

What do we do in case of rain?

Answer

Under the unfortunate circumstance that it does rain on our wedding day, our ceremony space will be moved from the Octagonal Gardens to a tent next to the Pavilion.
