Kayla and Scott first met while working at Café Eccell in College Station, while students at Texas A&M University. After getting to know one another on a more personal level, what started as a fun workplace romance soon turned into something more sincere. Seven years later, their relationship has endured. Whether they were in different cities while Kayla was completing her Bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M, or on opposite sides of the planet while Scott decided he’d go to Australia for a while, they never once forgot the love they originally found for each other in that old, greasy restaurant. What started at Café Eccell continued to grow. After returning from Australia, while Scott was in Law School in Houston and Kayla at Texas A&M, what would have felt to most people like a long-distance relationship to Scott and Kayla felt like they were next door neighbors. They continued to fall more in love once they were finally able to live in the same city, Kayla beginning her career as a teacher and coach and Scott as a lawyer. Eventually, it became obvious—the “big question” was coming—the only question was when. The element of surprise was Scott’s only hope at popping the question in a way that was sufficiently romantic for a woman of Kayla’s elegance. Naturally, a covert operation was launched, and with the help of an undercover agent/teacher who spoke with the principal, a special announcement was made one Friday afternoon that a limousine was waiting outside for Ms. Hutchinson. Once she saw the roses and wine (and once the limo driver told her she was not being kidnapped), it was mission accomplished. Kayla knew who was waiting for her at the other end of this limo ride, the only thing left to do was say “YES!” Now the only thing left for you to do is celebrate the OFFICIAL union of Mr. and Mrs. Scott and Kayla McCormick!
We realize we are getting married during a chaotic time. While we would love everyone to be able to attend, we realize everyone's situation is unique. For those of you who are concerned about attending a gathering with a large number of people, if you decide to stay home for the safety of yourself or those around you, we absolutely understand! We never want to put our guests in a situation where they're uncomfortable. For those of you who do attend, please be mindful there is ALWAYS some risk inherent in gathering a large group of people in 2020. We ask you to be respectful toward those who may be especially concerned about the corona virus. The venue will be providing hand sanitizer, and we will be performing temperature checks at the entrance to screen anyone who might have a fever. You will not be required to wear a mask during the ceremony and reception, however, we will require masks to be worn while guests leave their tables to fill their plates with food. We will be providing masks at the venue. To help everyone be respectful to the wishes of others, everyone will be given either a green, yellow, or red wristband at the door, depending on how much social contact they are comfortable with. The bride and groom will be wearing yellow wristbands: GREEN = I'm living on the edge! I'm okay with handshakes, hugs, and high fives. Let's party like it's 2019! YELLOW = I'm taking more precautions than those with green wristbands, but not as much as those with red wristbands. Please do your best to generally physically distance yourself from me, but I'm okay with limited contact like a fist bump or having a conversation within 6 feet of another person. RED = Please do your absolute best to respect the 6 foot social distancing guidelines set out by the CDC, and please keep your mask on around me. I would like to stay as safe as possible. No matter which you choose, we can't wait to see you there!
