FAQs

We know our wedding is a bit non-traditional, and you may have lot's of questions on logistics and what to expect. I have provided as much information as possible below but if I missed anything, just let me know!
Question

Dogs

Answer

Dogs are welcome at this event with a few conditions. Dogs will not be allowed at the Happy Hour, Ceremony, and Reception so please plan on a safe, comfortable and confined space for your pup during this time. The property will have many dogs off leash and roaming free. It is imperative that your dog is comfortable with this environment, friendly with people and other pets, and responsive to voice commands.

Question

Kids

Answer

Kids are welcome to join! There will be about a 1/4 mile walk/hike to the ceremony just to be aware of.

Question

Bears/Wild Animals

Answer

There are bears and wild animals in this camp. We are very strict about keeping campsites clean and food/trash in a locked vehicle or trailer at night. Please help us keep our camp off the radar to the animals who share it with us.

Question

Food/Water

Answer

The camp has non potable water (non-drinking) available via a gravity fed water system from a near by creek. We will also have water bottles and other non-alcoholic beverages available. We will have lots of alcohol too of course! There will be a light appetizers before the dinner, dinner will be grilled meat, veggies, salad, etc. Brunch will be a yogurt bar and egg dish. Please plan on bringing drinking water for your camp, snacks/lunch items and any specific drinks you'd like during your stay.

Question

Camping/Accomodations

Answer

This is a camping wedding. All guests will be bringing their own bedding, tents, trailers, vans, or vehicles to sleep in. If you'd like to rent a trailer or van, I recommend outdoorsy.com. Just be aware that there is a three mile dirt road to access the property. It is fairly well graded but is still a dirt road. We do have a couple extra tents and potentially a few trailer spots available so if you need help with coordinating just let me know. We have also booked a house in Tahoe Donner which may have some availability as well :) The camp has flushing toilets and camping showers with hot water but is otherwise fully off grid. We do have some power via solar and generators. There is no cell phone service at the camp, although we do have WIFI at the caretakers cabin for emergencies. If you'd prefer not to camp, you can rent an Air BnB in the Tahoe Donner or Truckee/Tahoe area. Or for locals, we can take you back up to the gate at the end of the night, although, we would really love you to camp with us instead. For help with vacation rental homes please contact Kayla.

Question

Attire-Western Wear

Answer

Because we are camping, we highly encourage everyone to be comfortable and in shoes that can accommodate walking, hiking, dirt, and non-level ground. That being said we would still love for people to dress up for the party. Frosty refers to this as your "Going to Town Clothes" We highly encourage you to put on your finest western wear for the party Guys: Nice jeans or slacks, collared shirt, vests, bolo ties, cowboy boots, cowboy hat Gals: Dresses, skirts, jumpers, cowboy boots, cowboy hats if preferred (think Yellowstone vibes with a camping twist). The weather should be wonderful but being in the mountains it can still get chilly at night. If you'd like to jump in the lake, make sure you pack your swim suit :)

Question

Property Access

Answer

The best address to navigate to the yellow gate to access the property is below: 15836 Alder Creek Rd, Truckee CA 96161. The gate is locked so we will need to be there to open the gate which is why we have everyone meeting at the gate between 12pm and 1pm. Once you pass the gate you will pass through Tahoe Donner's Property before entering into our property. It is important that you yield to pedestrians and drive no faster than 8 mph on these roads in order to respect our neighbors. The dirt road is about three miles until you will access our property. Once you get to the sign in booth, you will be prompted to sign in and then directed to your camp area for the night.

Question

Trash and Property Rules

Answer

This is the first wedding that has been allowed at our property and I would love for others to have the same benefit. This is a shared property with other owners. Please leave all areas better than you found them. Pick up trash. Drive slow. Be respectful to the other owners. Keep camps and bathrooms clean. Follow the rules and help us keep this super special place alive and beautiful.

Question
