Answer
A: "Black tie optional" means that guests are welcome to dress formally, but it’s not required. Here’s what that usually looks like: For men: A tuxedo is if they want to go all out, but a suit and tie is perfectly acceptable. For women: A floor-length gown, fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit all work well. It’s a nice middle ground between formal and semi-formal—elegant, but not too strict.
