Nick knew I loved dogs, and he had just convinced his mom to let him finally get a family dog. So with my love for dog in mind, Nick asked me to go with him and get this dog that was 2 hours away, and mind you we were only 15 so Chris (nicks mom) had to drive us. So not only did I get to know Nick on our first date I got to know his wonderful mom. Nick likes to say he knew what he was doing and that he knew he would have my heart if it had anything to do with a dog. And the rest is history!
We had just renovated our entire house for 8 months and the time had finally come for us to show our family and friends all our hard work at our house warming party. Little did I know it was more like our engagement party! Everyone bought gifts like usual, except Nick insisted I opened them in front of everyone like it was Christmas Day, and I thought it was just weird but he said grandma Finke insisted and I can’t say no to her! So I opened a gift and nick couldn’t wait anymore, and gave my gift from him to me, and all I could think about at first was that I didn’t have a gift to give him. So I open the gift and it’s the cutest collage of pictures of us over the years, and everyone saw the back of the frame before I did, as I was admiring all the pictures of us. Nick told me to turn it around and read what the back says, and it read “will you marry me?”. And I just started crying and looking at my sister in shock like “IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING .” Meanwhile Nick is telling me we have always said “always and forever” and I’m in such shock he not only said “will you marry me” he said “will you, will you?” About a handful of times before I realized I should probably answer him. It was a wonderful day and a even more wonderful surprise!
