Our Love Story

It all started with a rose...

When Kayla downloaded Hinge on a quiet Sunday afternoon, she wasn’t expecting much. She got a notification that someone sent her a rose (if you are unfamiliar with Hinge, you send a rose to one person every week). She clicked on the profile and it was Nick. He had pictures of himself with his long hair but what intrigued Kayla was when she saw pictures of Nick with his niece, Charlotte, and of his interests. Not knowing what it would lead to, Kayla decided to match with Nick and send him the first message. Their first conversation flowed effortlessly—shared sarcasm, similar taste in music, and an immediate comfort that felt rare. Within a few days, Nick asked if she’d like to meet in person. Kayla was telling Nick how picky of an eater she is and Nick let Kayla choose where they should have their first date.... Of course it had to be her favorite spot with the best rolls. That place was Texas Roadhouse. Nick met Kayla at her car and brought her flowers. That was the first time Kayla has ever received flowers on a first date. As they sat down, Nick asked Kayla, "How many times do you think they will sing 'Happy Birthday'?" Kayla laughed and throughout the night they counted. They talked for hours—about childhood memories, family, travel dreams, and the silly quirks that made them both feel a little more human. When they left, he walked her to her car and Kayla mentioned about getting Crumbl Cookies. Nick decided to meet Kayla at Crumbl so the night wouldn't end. When Kayla got in the car, she texted her best friend and mom telling them how much they would love Nick and how special he is. They got their Crumbl and ended the night knowing this wouldn't be the last date. A year and a half later, they went on vacation to the Finger Lakes. Nick planned to propose near the lake, however, they missed the window for sunset. The next day, the very last winery of the day, Kayla wanted to get a picture at the pergola at Wagner Vineyards. Nick decided it was the perfect moment to propose. With a tears in his eyes, he said, “Kayla, as a man of faith, I've prayed for so long about what my future entails. The moment I met you, a year and a half ago in October of 2023, I knew my prayers were starting to be answered...... Will you marry me?" Through tears and laughter, she said yes. Four years after that first date, they will walk down the aisle and say “I do” hand in hand surrounded by their family and friends. And just like that, the girl who is such a picky eater and the guy who cooks for a living will start their forever. And it all started with one rose.
