Their paths first crossed during an internship where, despite being in the same place, they barely exchanged words. In the summer of 2016, MJ found himself embarking on an internship, a requirement set forth by his professor. Little did he know, he would be working under the guidance of Kayla's father, and fate would have it that Kayla, too, would be there, having recently moved back home after her departure from her first college in Virginia. This twist of destiny brought them together in the most unexpected of ways. Without this internship weaving their paths together, one can only wonder how or if their lives would have ever intersected. However, as they found themselves both attending Bowie State University later that August after the internship, their shared experiences as student-athletes and studying in the same field led to frequent encounters on campus, laying the groundwork for their budding friendship. It wasn't until the homecoming event in October of that year that they finally exchanged numbers, marking the beginning of our inseparable journey together.
