We met in high school

High School Sweethearts

Max and I met our freshman year at Klein High School. Most of my friends had gone to different high schools so I didn't know many people except those on the Klein Bearkadettes, our high school drill team, with me. After one of our home football games, my older sister, Christina, brought me along to what students called "5th Quarter"-- an after game party. That's when Max and I first met. I was awkwardly on my phone looking over old text messages pretending to be busy when he came up to me. He was honestly the first guy I can remember that actually took the time to talk to me. But he had a ton of friends (Mr. Popular) so I was intimidated and painfully shy and didn't really talk much so he left... naturally. Thinking that he was way too cool for me and that I would never talk to him again, I went along with my life. But a few months later our real story began. Max and I began dating our sophomore year in high school. We were each others first love and with that became each others first heartbreak as well. But through all our high school drama, God placed us back in each others lives our sophomore year in college. Through several more ups and downs, we finally let God take full control of our lives and paths that were clearly paved to lead to each other. When we were younger, I never knew that he would have been the one I would spend the rest of my life with. But throughout the years and so much growth, God has intentionally molded us into the people that we needed to be for each other. This ride has been so beautiful and blessed and we can't wait to move into the next chapter of our lives as husband and wife. Let the festivities begin!!

The Proposal

4.22.2017

We went to one of our favorite places, Bernhardt Winery, for a "private wine tasting" that Max's parents had gifted him for his 23rd birthday. He was acting a little weird so I had a hunch, but when we got there we really did get a private wine tasting. About 4 or 5 samples in, I was feeling pretty good and completely forgot that I even wanted him to propose. But then our guide, who was supposed to be in on the plan, finally learned about the plan. When he came back from talking to his manager, his attitude was completely different and you could tell he was anxious. We had a few more samples and then he sent Max away to "pay for the rest of the tasting". This poor guy didn't have a clue that Max's story to me was that this tasting was a gift so him having to pay didn't add up. As Max was out of the room, our guide began asking me questions about our lives together. He then walked away again, leaving me to my wine, and came back to tell me Max had noticed there was "great lighting outside" and wanted me to meet him out there for a picture (cue laughter.. Max hates pictures). As I walked outside, Max was standing underneath an arch and the grass was lined with mason jars of flowers. I wish I could tell you what he said to me.. All I remember was him getting down on one knee and me crying so hard I couldn't see his face. I of course said yes and now I get to marry the love of my life.
