A virtual ceremony allows you to join us from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an electronic device with access to reliable internet, preferably with a camera on it. Guests will receive a detailed email in September with how to log in. We recommend giving yourself about 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony to get set up and settled. You can expect to open a link in a web browser that may require you to download a simple, free software or app. We recommend using a computer or tablet with a webcam and high speed internet. Your cell phone is also an option, but please hold it horizontally/landscape.
Use a computer, laptop, tablet, or cell phone with a camera, microphone and speaker Make sure the device has plenty of power or is plugged in Make sure you know how to mute and unmute your microphone Test opening the Zoom link in advance. If this is your first time using Zoom, you may need to download a program or app. It only takes a moment to do so and is free If you plan to turn on your camera so we can see you (which we hope you do), we recommend being in a well-lit room. Avoid having a bright window behind you that will make you look like a dark silhouette. Once you have connected to Zoom, make sure your name is listed as it appears on your invitation. You will be let into the video conference session by a moderator that will be checking a guest list (to make sure strangers don't show up)
Dress to impress! Whatever that means for you. May we suggest dresses, button-ups, ties, or whatever will make you feel best in front of your webcam. Throw on your favorite heels or oxfords if they'll make you feel great. You don't have to worry about sore feet at this event! You will not be required to turn on your camera, but we'd love it if you would for the cocktail hour portion of the evening. We will be recording the experience.
We can't wait to celebrate with each and every one of you when it is safe to do so. When it comes to the health of our loved ones, we are not risk-takers. So for us, "safe" means when there is a vaccine available, effective, and widely accepted.
TBA :)
We spent many sleepless nights considering every possible option. We weighed the pros and cons of every size in-person gathering. While this isn't our plan A (or plan B, or even plan C for that matter), it was the only one that felt right. In light of the ongoing, worldwide pandemic and out of an abundance of caution for our loved ones, we decided the only right choice for us and our unique blend of variables was to keep our ceremony to just us. We are so excited to have you with us through the power of video technology, and will hug you so hard at a future in-person celebration.
