They met for the first time in Austin, Tx on the road for America's Got Talent. They spoke a few times over social media for a few months but it wasn't until they were both in New Jersey that August working the AGT Live Shows that they finally saw each other again and instantly started dating.

They were home in Massachusetts spending time with family and decided to take the ferry out of Boston over to George's Island with Kayla's parents, Debbie & Chuck and two of her siblings Courtney & Colin. They were all having bloody marys on the ferry and Kayla was actually giving Kollin a hard time about when they were actually going to get engaged. Little did she know Kollin and Courtney a few days prior had gone to pick out a ring ( they told Kayla they were taking a ride over to Golf Galaxy to look at new golf clubs knowing Kayla would be completely disinterested in going). 20 minutes after getting to the island and walking the grounds, Kollin asked Kayla if she wanted to take a picture by the water. Kayla didn't think anything of it, she put her purse down and when she looked up Kollin was on one knee asking her to marry him and her family all had their phones out capturing the special moment! Kayla could barely get out YES she was crying so hard! The day couldn't have been more perfect!
