Just as Kevin was planning his first big Euro-trip with his best friend, Kayla was venturing off to her first major business trip at SXSW...and a bumble match alert flashed across both their phones. Kayla put her sales skills to use drafting a first note asking Kevin about Irving Farm coffee and his reverse commute into Connecticut. While Kevin hadn’t heard of this coffee shop in Grand Central Terminal, he knew he wanted to hear more from her. Kevin boldly proposed their first date for the day Kayla returned from her business trip, which happened to be the day before he left for Europe. Kayla knew she had one chance to meet this guy before he slipped into the online abyss, so she said yes and met him on the Upper West Side at Es Bar for a quick drink (laptop in purse). The rest, as they say, is history.
When Kevin and Kayla lived on the UES (but not yet together) they would escape to the East River for slow summer mornings away from roommates and city noise. Part mini-vacation of the non-stop pace of NY, and part ritual, they'd camp out under one particularly large tree and wash down their everything bagels with cold brew and get to know one another beyond those first punctuated date nights out at restaurants and bars. Flash forward to 3 years later when Kevin claimed he 'knew a new coffee spot' and led Kayla to that very tree on a surprisedly sunny Sunday afternoon on 12/22/19 to ask how forever sounded....she said it sounds perfect.
