It all started off as "just friends"... Although Justin and Kayla grew up only 25 minutes away from each other in the same county, their journey started in college at the University of Pittsburgh. Justin and Kayla both befriended a pretty cool guy named Deech, who they're still both best friends with 'til this day. While Deech lived in the same dorm as Justin freshman year, Kayla befriended Deech at a party that same year after finding out they attended the same school district growing up. Second semester of freshman year, Deech started inviting Kayla to hang out with his floormates, and little did anyone know... Deech was introducing Kayla and Justin to each other's future spouse. As Kayla started going over to Justin and Deech's dorm more and more, a friendship started brewing between them. When summer came along that year, Justin, Kayla, and a lot of their friends discovered they only lived 25 minutes away from each other at home, so they decided to continue their group hangouts throughout that summer. That summer was filled with many group bonfires and Applebees half-apps runs that established a closer friendship amongst Justin, Kayla, and their mutual college friends. The hangouts amongst Kayla, Justin, and their friends only grew more and more regular heading into sophomore year at Pitt. These hangouts ultimately led to Justin and Kayla developing "crushes" on each other, eventually leading to Justin asking Kayla on a first date that next summer. While a lot of hangouts during their initial friendship occurred at Applebees for half-apps, the theme stayed consistent - Justin and Kayla had their first date eating half-apps boneless wings at the Newtown Applebees. From there, the remaining of the summer was what you'd expect in any summer rom-com. Some of the most memorable dates that summer included: fireworks at Sesame Street, repetitively driving up and down "Gravity Hill" in Bucks County to test out whether the "myth" is true, and mini golfing that resulted in the "winner" egging the "loser". At the end of the summer, Justin had one more date in mind: to take Kayla out to her favorite restaurant in New Hope and ask her to be his girlfriend. Kayla, not knowing Justin's intentions for the date that day, adjusted the date plans and Justin was left to wait a little longer before calling Kayla his girlfriend. As the fun summer came to a close, Justin and Kayla made their ways back to Pitt for their junior year of college. Shortly after their return, Justin invited Kayla over for a homemade lunch and "Bob's Burgers" watching session. He made his family's incredible penne alla vodka recipe for Kayla, and while watching TV, asked Kayla to be his girlfriend. Of course, she said "yes"... I mean, how could you not when he made you the best penne alla vodka you've ever had. Justin and Kayla navigated the remainder of their time at Pitt established as a couple amongst their close-knit group of mutual friends. Not only were they in a romantic relationship together, but they got to experience being classmates, co-workers, and teammates together during that time. From attending lots of Pitt football games, eating and exploring their way through Pittsburgh, and traveling to Toronto and Puerto Rico during their spring breaks, they got to experience so many amazing memories together.
After both graduating from college, Justin and Kayla continued their story after moving back home with their families in Bucks County, PA. During that time, they introduced different friends to each other, and unintentionally set-up some romantic relationships amongst their friends who are getting married to each other this year as well. Shortly after moving back home, Justin and Kayla were required to navigate a "socially-distant" relationship together during the pandemic before eventually moving in together in the summer of 2022. They first lived in Manayunk together before moving to Langhorne, and each navigated jobs plus graduate school along the way. Towards the end of their grad school journeys, Kayla and Justin made plans to move across the country to Colorado to explore a new environment and immerse themselves in the outdoors. The week before initiating their cross-country move, Justin and Kayla attended Kayla's family vacation in Chestertown, Maryland. During a casual evening date on the beach, Justin surprised Kayla by getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. Many ugly tears were shed and many cheerful moments were had celebrating with close friends and family. About one week later, Justin and Kayla headed out on their cross-country road trip to Colorado Springs as a newly engaged couple. They took on a fresh start by navigating their relationship within a new place away from home, building a new community, navigating new careers, and exploring many outdoor hobbies in the beautiful landscape. They currently continue to call Colorado their home base at this time. All these beautiful moments, as well as the future moments to be had this year, will lead to Justin and Kayla becoming officiated as husband and wife on June 6th, 2026 in Rocky Mountain National Park before holding the main wedding celebration on July 31st, 2026 at Pen Ryn Mansion in Bensalem, PA.
