Josiah asked Kayla on their first date to a cute little coffee shop. Welllll I don't know if I can necessarily say he asked her out... Josiah had his brother send Kayla a text message one day saying that Josiah thought she was cute and that he wanted her number. *Josiah always likes to say that he was going to come up to Kayla at church the following day, however he apparently had been saying this for quite some time:)*. They both now agree that coffee shops are the best first dates because you can leave early if it is not going so well or you can stay as long as you would like. After spending 5 & 1/2 hours on their first date, in this random coffee shop, it is safe to say both were very smitten. Kayla informed Josiah that she was leaving for Ecuador for 2 years but was waiting on approval. Somehow, that did not scare him off. Josiah left this date, called his best friend, and told him that he was going to marry Kayla one day. And that is where their story begins. Fast forward, 8 months later and it is time for Kayla to leave for language school and eventually Ecuador. Before she left they talked about the possibilities or outcomes of the next 2 years. Ultimately, they decided that there were two options moving forward. There was a best case scenario and a worse case scenario... From that day forward they began to pray and make the daily promise to always strive and work towards the best case scenario. The best case scenario for them at the time was that God would use this time to grow them both individually and together as a couple. It also meant that they would commit to loving each other despite the distance, the struggles, or hardships that would come about. They said that if they could get through the long distance then they would be able to make it through whatever else the Lord had in store for them. So for over a year they continued to promise to each other and pray for the best case scenario from dating long distance. Now almost 2 years later, they are engaged and about to commit the rest of their lives to remembering that they are living their "best case scenario". It was not easy but each and every day is a step closer to forever and always, together!
