Our relationship started when my brother, Michael, gave my number to Jarred at a ”work lunch” that seemed to last all day long, as the two texted me all through the night. Little did we know that this interaction would lead us to wanting to spend the rest of our lives together. After talking solely via text for about a week, we finally met in-person for breakfast downtown at The French Press (which I, a Lafayette local, had never been to lol). Now, you may think it was love at first site and that was it, but we were STUBBORN! We decided to be friends for about 2 months, until Jarred invited me to see Top Gun, followed by me inviting Jarred to my parents’ home, where we preceded to spend the entire Memorial Day weekend together. I still had my doubts about whether or not Jarred had feelings for me, but when we were sitting around the bonfire, and he asked me, “Are you going to hold my hand, or not yet?” I knew. This time was the start of us spending any free time we had with each other, and becoming officially a couple on June 7, 2022.
At around midnight on July 9, 2023 Jarred and I decided to walk to our favorite spot at the New Orleans riverwalk where we had spent so much time before, talking about our future together. After pretending to place his cigar on the ground, Jarred got on one knee and asked me to marry him, which of course was an obvious YES! Not even 10 minutes later fireworks began going off in front of us, and as I looked at Jarred (obviously thinking this is all part of his plan) I see a look of shock just as big as mine, realizing this was not planned lol. I still say they were for us though. It was also exactly 1 year since Jarred told me he loved me. Although he did not plan this, he couldn’t have planned it any better if he tried!
