How we met

Some people find love at first sight. We found ours between the food stalls at Shongweni Market

It all started on an ordinary Saturday at Shongweni Farmers Market. David was doing what he does best..playing music and definitely entertaining the crowd, while I was nearby, dancing along without a care in the world. Then our eyes met. What started as a passing glance quickly caught the attention of my friends, who wasted no time inserting themselves into the situation. Thanks to their enthusiastic intervention, introductions were made, laughter followed, and a conversation was lit. Before we knew it, numbers had been exchanged and a coffee date was planned. But fate had other plans. Life got busy, the coffee date never happened, and for a moment it seemed as though our story might pause before it had even begun. Then, a few weeks later, my mom invited me to a lunch she had booked. Completely unaware of who else would be there, I walked into the venue, and there he was. Across a crowded room, our eyes interlocked once again. This time there was no market bustle, no big stage, no friends playing matchmaker. Just two people drawn back into each other’s orbit. Conversation flowed effortlessly, one topic leading to another, our words and laughter becoming beautifully entangled as though we were simply picking up where we had left off. Two days later, we finally went on that first date. And the truth is, we’ve never really stopped dating since. From a chance glance at a farmers market, to a missed coffee date, to a second encounter that neither of us could have planned, God was quietly writing a story far better than either of us could have imagined. The best thing we ever found at Shongweni Farmers Market wasn’t coffee, music, or fresh produce…it was each other.
