We met on a Sunday morning after a church service in September and somehow we ended up in the same car on our way to lunch. About a month later, we quickly became friends and realized we had a ton in common (the outdoors, swing dancing, and traveling just to name a few). We hung out with our group of friends often and just grew our friendship. In January, Conner proceeded to ask if we could go on a walk with my dog Elijah, and then a few days later, asked if we could get milkshakes. It was probably obvious that Conner liked me, but I just didn't believe it. However, about a week later, I asked Conner to go on a hike with me. The hike was lovely and we got dinner later and this was the moment where we decided to start dating. And oh what an adventure it has been!
About 8 or 9 months into dating, we had pretty much figured out that we wanted to be with each other for the rest of our lives. At this point, we started to discuss engagement. I had an idea that maybe it would happen in January and Conner never denied it. However, in November, Conner hit a deer with his car and used this as an excuse to push our engagement back a couple of months because he "couldn't afford a ring." I was bummed but understood and we carried on. I was convinced that we were not getting engaged until February or March. Then, January 15, 2022 rolled around. This day marked our 1 year of being together so we had a fun and full day planned. We went and had breakfast that morning. Then, we went to watch the new Spider-Man movie (which by the way, SO GOOD)! As the movie ended I wanted to stay for the after credits, but Conner was rushed because we still had a picnic to do and because he scheduled an "appointment" to go "ring shopping" later that day. I was kind of annoyed but we left and grabbed our stuff for the picnic and headed out. For one of our earlier dates we had a picnic in the mountains, so we decided to do that again for our 1 year. It had just snowed the night before so it was cold but so lovely. As we were starting to pack up, Conner suggested that we take Elijah (my pup) down to the river. It was a beautiful scene. We took some selfies (which our secret photographer is in) and just enjoyed the scene we were looking at. Then Conner says, "I've been trying to think of something mushy gushy to say to you all week but I love the adventures we go on together and I am so excited to go on more with you. I want to go on adventures with you for the rest of my life." He proceeds to get on one knee, and I proceed to say, "You're joking, right?" confused as can be lol. Yet, as soon as I saw the ring, I knew he wasn't joking and I said yes before he could even ask the question. Don't worry, he did ask and I still said yes.
