Our Story

Our story started at BYU-Idaho, where we met playing pickleball. For an entire semester, we were strictly pickleball friends. Well... at least that's how Kayla saw it. Carson may have had a bit of a crush from the beginning, but Kayla just thought she had found a great doubles partner. At the end of the semester, life took us in different directions. Carson headed Texas, and Kayla went to Montana. But distance didn't stop Carson from making a few moves and sliding into those Instagram DMs. Not long after, a trip to Hawaii with friends was planned. As the trip got closer, the FaceTime calls got longer and more frequent. Before long, there was something more than friendship growing between us. Our first official date took place in Coeur d'Alene, where Carson taught Kayla how to wake surf. Somewhere between falling into the water and getting back up on the board, Kayla got hooked—and not just on wake surfing. Soon after, Kayla joined Carson for a family wedding, and then the long-awaited Hawaii trip finally arrived. By the end of it, we knew this relationship was worth pursuing. What followed was a lot of miles, weekend trips, and FaceTime calls as Carson lived in Coeur d'Alene and Kayla was attending school in Rexburg. Just when we thought we had mastered long distance, Kayla moved to Florida, making our relationship truly coast-to-coast. Despite the distance, we kept choosing each other. We survived a cross-country road trip together, and somewhere along the way realized that if we could handle thousands of miles in a car, we could handle just about anything. That's when we decided it was time to get married. This summer, we've been living in Coeur d'Alene, working, making memories, and soaking up every moment together. After the wedding, we'll be heading back to Rexburg so Kayla can finish school and we can start our next adventure as husband and wife. What started as a pickleball friendship turned into FaceTime calls, flights, road trips, and a love that spans states. And now, we can't wait to spend forever together.
