On a random Tuesday night in July 2023, Kayla received a text from her coworker and friend, Emilee. No introduction, no context, just: “Can I set you up?” Without hesitation, Kayla said yes. Aside from one photo and a name, she had no other details. What Kayla didn’t know was that earlier that evening, Brett had stopped by his friend Dylan’s apartment.
