About the couple

For those who don't know, both Bill and Kayla attended school at the University of South Alabama. Kayla was on the track team and Bill was on the baseball team. But prior to their ventures in Mobile, both were destined to go other places. Somehow fate brought the two together at USA (thanks to the weight room and a house party), and since then they have been inseparable. Seven years later they have graduated, moved to Huntsville, landed jobs, got a furry family member, and bought a house. Their journey is only beginning and the excitement of the future is on the horizon.

Why Disney World?

Two words: why not? Kayla has been traveling to Disney World since she was a young girl, and Orlando has made a permanent stamp in her heart. The idea sparked after watching Disney Fairytale Weddings on Disney+ where she saw a couple get married in front of the Tree of Life. After lots of research (and a proposal), she was able to learn that her dream of doing the same could become a reality. Her and Bill are big fans of amusement parks and also love the idea of getting married on vacation, so why not at the Happiest Place on Earth?

How he proposed

If there's one thing to know about Bill, it's that he isn't a huge fan of hiking (until now). On the day of the couple's engagement, Bill had a plan to propose, he just didn't know how. Originally, his plan was to propose in Orlando on a family trip organized by Kayla's family, but the sudden surge of the pandemic put that plan on hold. Kayla had been expressing to Bill that she wanted to get engaged prior to buying a home, so naturally in the midst of house searching he devised a plan. The two, along with Bill's groomsman Mike, took a trip to Keel Mountain Preserve where the three hiked vigorously to a spot near the top, where the couple wanted to take a picture. That's where Bill popped the question, and Kayla said "yes." The engagement was followed up with some much deserved margaritas at a local favorite restaurant, Taco Mama.
