We both moved to Florida in 2017 without knowing a single person and little did we know that would just be the start of so many things we have in common! Dating in this generation is not easy, especially when you find yourself being in your mid-30s. You have so many people saying "you're being too picky" or "you need to go out more" to find somebody. I had tried to meet somebody at different Churches, through different friends, and had been on many different dating apps without success. Dating apps? Yes, it is as awful as it sounds! I had a few friends that had met their husbands on Bumble, so I decided that was the last app I was going to try for a long time and I am so glad I did! Austin had never ventured into the dating app scene until his cousin decided she was going to create him a profile on Bumble. Little did I know, we matched the very first day he made his account! We had so much in common anywhere from our love of sports, the beach, Disney, movies, etc. Our first date was at a local brewery. We talked that night for hours without any pause in conversation and it felt like we had known each other for years! I truly believe what won Austin over was my southern accent :). I am extremely allergic to mosquitos and while we were sitting outside there was a citronella candle on the table, but I needed to light it. I asked him to go get a lighter and he said "a what?" I said a lighter and then presumed to mimic lighting something with my hands. He started to die laughing and he thought I said I needed a "ladder!" After we left, we both knew that both of us were very different than other people we have met/talked to and the rest is history. Since then we have traveled together (even had separate trips planned for Nashville on the same weekend well before we started dating), have taken many trips to Disney, brewery dates, dog walks, beach days, and have essentially been inseparable. We both knew we were each others person very early on, but we made it official on March 7th on the beach when he asked me to be his wife and to grow old together!
