First Comes Love

Thank you, CU!

Once upon a time in Portland, OR, there were two undergraduate students at Concordia University pursuing their degrees in Social Work and Exercise & Sports Science. Ambrose played baseball and Kayla played basketball. Ambrose was also a practice player on Kayla's basketball team, so they saw each other a lot and became friends. They studied and hungout together periodically. They even tried to set each other up! Life went on, Ambrose graduated and Kayla still had a couple more years of school left. Kayla slid into Ambrose’s DMs her senior year of college because (A) he was/is super cute and (B) her mom gave her a good pep-talk on not settling for guys that come to her and to pursue “the cutest boy on campus.” To Ambrose’s amazement, Kayla actually was interested. To Kayla’s amazement, Ambrose said yes. They went on a few dates over the weekends (Ambrose would drive to Portland and Kayla would drive to Mt. Vernon). On December 18th, 2017, Ambrose asked Kayla to be his girlfriend.

Then Comes Marriage

April 6th, 2019

The Blood Parents, Ambrose and Kayla all went down to Belize for a vacation. Everyone, especially friends who knew they were going to Belize, were assuming that this is where Ambrose will propose to Kayla. Before leaving the Blood's house to go to the airport, Kayla needed to find a charger for her phone (of course she didn’t charge it the night before). Ambrose told her to look in his backpack. While looking, Kayla felt a box. She froze. She stopped looking for her charger in his backpack, grabbed her phone, and immediately texted her friends, "I THINK AMBROSE HAS THE RING IN IS BACKPACK AND IS GOING TO PROPOSE DURING THE TRIP," with the little battery life her phone had left. So, throughout the whole trip, Kayla was anticipating Ambrose's proposal. Nine long days passed by without any sign of a proposal... Kayla was feeling a little discouraged but hopeful. Then, on the day they went snorkeling at Laughing Bird Island, Ambrose FINALLY did it. Kayla was too intrigued by transparent fish in the ocean to notice that Ambrose went back to his backpack, grabbed the GoPro and ring, and gave the GoPro to Papa Blood. Papa Blood didn't understand what was going on at first and asked, "Why do I need this? I don't know how to work this thing." Ambrose showed him and said, "You're going to want to watch this." Then Papa Blood knew what was going on because Ambrose had asked for his blessing a few months before going to Belize. While Ambrose was walking over to Kayla, he had his hands behind his back. Papa Blood told Momma Blood to watch as she was chatting with a couple from Minnesota. She guessed it was a cool rock or a spider, but when Ambrose got on one knee she said "Oh sh**" because she had no idea it was coming. Kayla never said "Yes!" but instead asked Ambrose, "Are you sure?" multiple times between her sobs. There couldn't have been a more beautiful day or perfect place to propose than April 6th, 2019 on Laughing Bird Island in Belize.
