When I first met Tracey, I was a mess. I had been out of the military for a couple years trying to finish college and pick a direction for my life to head. I had felt a greater call for service and joined veteran based disaster response organization Team Rubicon to aid in community recovery following natural disasters. The first time we were on a project together in June 2017, I swear I didn’t see him at all (thanks brain injury) but I remember that sweet and funny photographer. A couple weeks later, our incredible friends Jenn and Jeff hosted their annual TR “fourth of July bash” and this is where he started to capture my heart. He knew how to connect with me on a way that worked and I am forever grateful he was so persistent with my stubborn self. Event after event we attended together “just as friends” until one time he was deployed on a fire and everyone kept asking me WhErEs TrAcEy like he was mine or something…. Hmm…. He was so kind and gentle that it broke the hard candy coating I worked so hard to build up and I cannot believe to this day that I have managed to snag such an incredible man to love me for the rest of my life. It’s been such an amazing journey up to this point, from international deployments and cross country moves, to eventually holding hands and sneaking kisses. I am so glad you are all here to share this journey with us!
