How We Met

Trever and I met during our Junior year of High School and after a brief period of awkward resentment became fast friends. In our high school years, we spent many hours together through our work at the high school pool and found several common interests including swimming (obviously), the underworld movies, and Black Ops. As we spent more and more time together, we grew closer. So much so, we started dating soon after high school and the rest as they say is history.

The Proposal

Kayla’s Version: Trever asked me to take pictures of him and his sister because they both graduated during 2017. We went to where we first met, the Rogers High School pool and his sister ran back to the car, because she "forgot" something. That's when he and I began to talk about our past, how much we had grown since high school, all of the funny adventures we have had, and how we stilled loved one another. He then, very nervously got down on one knee, pulled out a Master Ball (Pokemon) and asked me if I would marry him! Now for those of you that are not Pokemon nerds, you only ever get one Master Ball. This means you have to be extra sure who you use it on and he chose to use his one and only ball on me. Trever’s Version: The day after Kayla and I graduated from Central Washington University (CWU) I asked if she would take graduation photos of my sister (Diana) and I. Diana would be graduating the following weekend from Rogers High School, the place that Kayla and I first met. So, after a lot of scheming Diana and I lured Kayla to Rogers under the pretense of taking graduating photos. Once we were there the plan was to have Kayla and I walk towards the pool, where we met way back when, and have Diana return to the car for a forgotten memory card. What actually happened was not like the movies. As we approached the pool Diana flawlessly acted out her part and promptly left for the car. As she did I began my nervous ramblings about how we had gone through so much since high school that made me love her all the more. It was supposed to romantic and a bit humorous, but it turned into what likely looked like the ramblings of a drunk. During this ordeal I shakily knelt to the ground, and after I finished choking out the words, I pulled out a Master ball, popped it open, and asked if Kayla if she would marry me. Obviously, she said yes and now we are here, planning one of the happiest days of our lives. A day that I hope all of you can join us for.
