Our Love Story

You seriously met online?

If you don’t know by now… Yes, it’s true. Matt and I met online. We were both just browsing Tinder one chilly November night and stumbled upon each other’s profiles. After we both swiped right, swapped phone numbers, started texting and added each other on Facebook, we agreed to FINALLY meet in person. No better place to talk and get to know each other better than over hot buns and sweet honey butter at TEXAS ROADHOUSE! After dinner, Matt gave me a goodnight hug and asked if he could see me again. Now fast forward, not even 2 weeks later to Wednesday December 19th, 2018. After we stuffed our faces full of Olive Garden, we sat in Matt’s car when he turned to me and asked if I would be his girlfriend. (Mind you, he had asked me over Snapchat like 3 days prior, but he wanted to ask me in person). Of course I screamed YES!! We went on multiple dates, ate at MANY different restaurants (we're BIG foodies), explored different wineries and breweries, celebrated month-a-versaries (which we will FOREVER do), anniversaries, birthdays, fell more and more in love with each other AND even moved into Matts grandma's condo together. The past 5 1/2 years (Almost 6 years) have been nothing shy of AMAZING and when Matt FINALLY asked me to be his wife on 11-05-23, the automatic answer was obviously YES!! THE PROPOSAL! The day started off like any other Sunday morning but with an unusual twist. I was planning on picking up a smaller Christmas tree from some lady on the Facebook marketplace. Before we went to pick it up, Matt wanted to try at a beer that was just released at a brewery in Mokena. Before we went in, I was trying to buy tickets online for the Budweiser Clydesdale tour in St. Louis for our upcoming vacation with my parents. My card got declined and when I tried the same transaction, my card was declined AGAIN, so we went in, had our beer and seltzer and when we tried to leave and pay my card doesn't work because it's now flagged for fraud. The Christmas tree lady was messaging me, asking when I was coming to pick up the tree, blah blah blah even though she was fully aware I was coming, I just didn't know the EXACT time. I told her I could be to her house in 30 minutes. As I'm getting off the highway, she messages me and says she had someone ELSE on the way to buy the Christmas tree. I told her NO, I'm 5 minutes away and that tree is MINE! We get to her house, she comes walking out of the garage with the tree in 1 hand, cigarette in the other. I slapped the $20 bill in her hand and took the tree. Now mind you, my debit card is flagged for fraudulent activity so I can't use it. I tell Matt I'm STARVING but I have no money for the grocery store. We got a few things to have a late lunch, early dinner of tacos. When we get home, we make "linner" and feed my grouchy self. Afterwards, Matt asks me to go get wine AND he'd even drive. ANY time anyone asks me to go get wine, I'm 100% going. So, we get out to his car, and he tells me he "forgot" his phone charger in the house when I can clearly see the charger in his car. Whatever! No big deal. We drive to the winery and after he parked, I get out and start to head towards the door. He's like "Wait, don't you want to go walk down by the water, it's nice out" I'm like "no, you asked me to come for wine"? He's like "aw come on, just for a little bit." We spent roughly 30 or so mins walking down by the water, then he pushed me on the swing set before we sat on the rocks by the water and did some MORE talking. After another 15ish mins, I go to get up and mention that I'm thirsty, WHERES THE WINE, Matt went to get up and "slipped" on the rocks and when I turned back around to make sure he didn't end up in the water, there he is, down on one knee, flashing this ring at me. It took me a minute to process WHAT I was staring at AND when he said with tears in his eyes, "Kaydie Anne Kasper, I want you to be more than my girlfriend, I want you to be my wife, will you marry me?" I of course said YES!
