We're getting married!

A common question being asked lately is "how did you two meet"? We both tend to giggle a little because it's hard to nail down the first time we actually met. See Justin and I have technically known each other for years. My dear friend Katie married Justin's good friend Adam, so we have crossed paths several times in the years Katie and Adam were dating. Last October, Katie and Adam hosted their annual Halloween party, and I went with my normal intentions of having fun, having a few too many drinks and enjoying quality time with my closest friends. At one point of the evening, I was standing in the kitchen and turned around to see Justin standing there in a Top Gun Flight Suit, daisy duke style with aviators on. My Bud Light Lime came shooting out of my nose & mouth. Throughout the night, I kept finding myself next to Justin flirting, laughing at his not so funny jokes, learning about his daughter, sharing stories with him about my daughter, and asking him intimate questions about who he was as a person. By the end of the night, I guess the Bud Light Lime I was drinking gave me enough courage to kiss him. The next day he asked me on a date, and of course I said yes. A few short weeks later, he took me to Pittsburgh Blue and Dave & Busters on our first date. It only took me 3 dates to realize he was like NO man I had ever dated and I knew we had something special. Just like that, everything rearranges and life changes, out of the blue. It was just a bud light, but ain't it funny what one beer can turn into?

Our love story began in Prior Lake, back in 2018. It was Halloween party and if you want to talk about dress to impress - we both were looking our best. Kaycee stole my eye that evening dressed in a DIY grinch outfit. Could totally tell she was on the prowl for her future husband. I on the other hand was rocking an authentic Top Gun flight suit that was tailored so well and so short it left little to the imagination. What girl doesn’t want a daisy duke wearing Maverick from Top Gun – Tom Cruise ain’t got nothing on me… To think our journey started that evening while sharing stories of our girls who are barely 5 weeks apart and parenting, talked about our dogs and how we both rescued pit bulls, and inadvertently without the other knowing we both made sure that we always were together… Let’s not forget Kaycee made the first move and kissed me at the end of the night. Kaycee’s love game was seriously on point – not only did she make the first move with a kiss she followed it up with a message the following day. The weeks leading up to our first date I would go to bed and wake up with Kaycee on my mind – the flirtatious banter exchange back and forth would last until 11/9/2018 when we had our last first date. Nearly 2 years’ worth of memories later we’ve made Savage our home, we’ve become a family of six – Cedar and Zoe are totally family, we’ve traveled together - heck we got matching Phoenix tattoo’s on vacation, and we’ve always talked about our future and our future was always us together. On a special day in June I was finally able to pop the question ask my best friend to become my wife. SHE SAID YES!!! I’ve always loved a true love story and one that falls in place organically – a love that’s not forced. I vowed to myself if I find the “one” it will be organic, it will be real, it will be real love. I have that with Kaycee – you are the love of my life and I am so excited for this new chapter of US to begin! Serendipity!!!
