Nick and Kayce were set up by Kayce’s good friend Alex, who was working for Temple Emanuel in Dallas and overseeing the young adult programs. Nick reached out to Alex shortly after his move from New Orleans to learn about getting involved in the Dallas community. After meeting Nick, Alex asked Kayce if she could give him her number. Kayce took the chance and said yes! On their first date, Nick and Kayce met at a dive bar. As if the setting wasn’t romantic enough, at the end of the date Nick shouted to Kayce from across the parking garage (in true romantic fashion) if she maybe wanted to go on a second date. Thankfully she shouted back, yes! A few dates in, Nick asked Kayce if she wanted to go to a bar with him to watch his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. Nick taught Kayce how to “call the dawgs,” and by the end of the night, she was leading the chants in the bar. The rest, as they say, is history. THE PROPOSAL On Kayce’s birthday Nick picked up flowers and pre-ordered cupcakes from her favorite gluten-free bakery in Dallas, one of which had the writing “will you marry me?” in icing on top. Nick got down on one knee and officially asked Kayce to marry him, and she said yes! The very excited newly engaged couple made their way to Kayce’s parents’ house. She was surprised to see Nick’s parents from New Orleans, his sister and brother in law from Los Angeles, and her sister and brother in law from Houston. Nick had coordinated bringing everyone together to celebrate with a Louisiana crawfish boil and a Texas barbecue, a melding of their two cultures. Nick and Kayce have decided to get married in Dallas because it is the city where they met and fell in love. But in true New Orleans fashion, it will be a weekend of “laissez les bons temps rouler!” (“let the good times roll!”).
