Things To Do

We're excited to share a few of our favorite places that made us fall in love with Richmond.

Carytown

Richmond, VA 23221

Colorful Carytown is a bohemian district centered around a stretch of West Cary Street, with indie boutiques, record stores, and vintage emporiums. Quirky murals brighten alleyways and buildings housing cool cafes, bakeries, and health-conscious lunch spots, while evening crowds fill farm-to-table restaurants and craft cocktail bars. Operating since 1928, the Byrd Theater screens movies in opulent surroundings.

Belle Isle

Richmond, VA

The infrared park counters have confirmed what most of us had suspected: Belle Isle is the park’s most popular site, attracting people of all ages to the wooded paths, mountain biking trails, bicycle skills area, historical sites, wheelchair-accessible fishing at the quarry pond, good sunbathing and the granite wall for rock climbing.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 340-1400

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, or VMFA, is an art museum in Richmond, Virginia, United States, which opened in 1936.

Maymont Park

Richmond, VA

Maymont is a 100-acre Victorian estate and public park in Richmond, Virginia. It contains Maymont Mansion, now a historic house museum, an arboretum, formal gardens, a carriage collection, native wildlife exhibits, a nature center, and Children's Farm.

Scott's Addition Historic District

Richmond, VA 23230

Beer!!!! Revitalized, hip Scott’s Addition is the hub of the city’s brewing scene, with cideries, taprooms, and distilleries housed in converted warehouses. Bold street murals and string lights brighten the area, and seasonally focused destination restaurants, a retro bowling alley, and a cinema make it a popular evening hangout. Nearby, the Science Museum of Virginia has high-tech astronomy shows in its Dome theater.

Buttermilk Trail

Buttermilk Trail, Richmond, VA

Great hiking and mountain biking for anyone in need of a bit of exercise.

ZZQ Texas Craft Barbeque

3201 West Moore Street, Richmond, VA 23230
, (804) 528-5648

Best Barbecue in Virginia with brisket, pulled pork & other BBQ staples in a chill, industrial setting with garage doors & a patio.

Stella's

1012 Lafayette Street, Richmond, VA 23221

One of our favorite restaurants in the city with modern Greek fare, including small plates, in a blond-wood minimalist space with a communal table.

Edo's Squid

411 North Harrison Street, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 864-5488

Our favorite restaurant we always visit with in town.

Sub Rosa Bakery

Great breakfast spot at one of the best bakeries in the nation.
