Will played Football and Kayla played Field Hockey at Umass Dartmouth, most likely crossing paths dozens of times. Each of them admit to a small degree of stalking before the actual day they met. True story, before they offically met, Kayla sat at her kitchen table with Devon and said “I’m going to marry Will Cotter”. Mid Preseason, September 2012, Kayla tore her quad and Will had shin splints.. which brought them both into the training room at the same time. Oh! And there was a puppy! Great conversation starter, they both started playing with the puppy and instantly began flirting. From that day, they each asked for more information about each other from trainers and players. Long story short, they exchanged numbers and met up at a party in Westport. Kayla was wearing high top chucks and obviously one shoe was untied while she was trying to chat Will up. Will put his knee out and patted his knee and tied Kaylas shoe. Swoon. A couple hours later, Will was heading out and came up to Kayla with the famous line that sealed the deal. “If I don’t kiss you goodnight, I’m going to regret it forever”. They were instantly infatuated with each other and haven’t left each others sides since.

Will was taking Kayla out for her birthday dinner a night early because “her parents were coming to visit and he wanted to have a romantic dinner”. Obviously Kayla was a brat while getting ready for dinner and giving Will a hard time. On the way to dinner, Will said “I heard the whales are back in Manchester, lets go see them” naturally Kayla gave attitude about how they were going to be late for dinner. So off they went to see the whales at White Beach in Manchester. As soon as they pulled up, Will started pointing to the ocean saying “look, its right there”. So Kayla jumped out of the car, Will following. Kayla is basically blind and kept walking closer to the water to see this whale. As Kayla turned around to say “dude that’s a rock”. Will was already down on one knee with the ring in hand asking her to marry him. Cue instant ugly crying. They did not go to Tono but to Beauport where EVERYONE was waiting to celebrate. First secret Will was ever able to sucessfully keep from Kayla!
