Our story began in the forested hills of Lewis and Clark College, way back in 2012. One day, our mutual friend, Lindsay, had us both over to watch a movie and we hit it off from there. Our first date was at a southern restaurant called the Screen Door. A second date almost didn’t happen when a text message about sushi got lost in the digital cosmos (Kay says she never got it, but Hardeep still thinks he was being ghosted). Luckily, a friend intervened, and couple of years (and several Screen Door visits) later, we moved to the East Coast together, and then eventually made home in Los Angeles.

After designing a ring together, Kay was sure she would never have a surprise proposal. However, Hardeep planned every last detail to ensure she wouldn't suspect a thing. One Friday, Kay got a call from her Mom asking her to come to dinner at a restaurant on the Upper West Side. Through precise maneuvering, Hardeep persuaded Kay to take a walk through Central Park to the restaurant. At the planned point, Hardeep asked Kay to join him on the top of a rock. Kay refused, citing her poor outfit choice, and the fact that they were going to be late for dinner. Hardeep regrouped, and found another place where the Central Park Birdhouses were still visible. While Kay was looking for the cardinals in the trees (without her glasses), Hardeep got down on one knee.
