You can't come to La Jolla without walking down to see the seals and the sea lions! Along the shoreline of La Jolla cove you will find a very accessible walking path which will take you from the Point to the Children's Pool where in February we should expect to see seal pups on the beach. If you are interested, there are kayaking tours to take you out but it may be a bit chilly this time of year.

Balboa Park is more than 1,000 acres and offers 15 museums, various gardens, arts and international culture associations, and the San Diego Zoo. It offers something historical, horticultural, educational and recreational for everyone. The park is steeped in history. A true labor of love to the City’s leaders of the era, there was great effort to shape this rolling plot of land into the masterpiece it is today. A fun daytime activity to walk around and see the beautiful architecture and newly reopened Botanical Building
Take a drive or an Uber over to Coronado, walk around and visit the Hotel Del. A living legend for more than 130 years, The Del celebrates its rich history as the proud host to celebrities, royalty, U.S. Presidents, and beach-loving guests for generations. Built in 1888 by Elisha Babcock, Jr., and Hampton L. Story and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977, this historic beach resort is a San Diego icon. We love to drive over and enjoy a drink on the Sun Deck. Going in the morning? Grab a pastry at Clayton's Bakery then take it to walk along the beautiful beach.
Seaport Village is a vibrant harborside spot with stellar views of the San Diego skyline. There’s plenty to do here—stroll along the promenade, check out the art galleries, enjoy a meal at an upscale restaurant or do some shopping (local wines and souvenirs are good buys). The village is a stop on many hop-on, hop-off trolley tours of San Diego; include a visit to the USS Midway Museum and Maritime Museum along the way.
George’s at the Cove is an iconic San Diego restaurant located in the heart of La Jolla, right down the street from the La Valencia Hotel, celebrated for offering some of the best ocean view dining in San Diego. There is a rooftop patio where you can make a reservation, or there is a first-come-first serve bar with great views.
Another Moats family staple (turned Schnulo staple when Katy & Sydney lived together), El Indio was founded at the corner of India and Grape as a tortilla factory in August of 1940 by Ralph Pesqueira Sr. Fresh corn tortillas were made by hand. Since then, they have evolved and incorporated multiple recipes from numerous states and regions in Mexico. They always encompass the traditional method of making their food by hand.
For those planning to have a rental car (or open to a quick Uber) make your way over to our old neighborhood, North Park. When we lived here we would walk to many breweries in the area including North Park Beer Co. Make sure to order a Hop Fu!
Originating from the lively border region of Tijuana, Aram and Julian, our founders, are two passionate culinary aficionados on a mission to capture the essence of their homeland's flavors. Inspired by Tijuana's bustling taco stands and their culinary adventures across the Baja Peninsula, they founded the first Taco Stand in San Diego in 2013 and are dedicated to bringing the authentic taste of Mexican food to taco enthusiasts all over America. We are frequent visitors of the Encinitas location, and went to the North Park location on Nick's Birthday Taco tour in 2024! Plan for a bit of a line if going here during peak lunch/dinner time.
