Anastasia State Park

A great place to see wildlife and to enjoy the beautiful beaches, marshes, and nature trails. I love renting paddle-boards here!

Castillo de San Marcos National Monument

Built in 1672 by the Spanish to protect their position on the Matanzas River, the fort is a treasure!

Bridge of Lions

One of my favorite activities is walking or running over the Bridge of Lions, especially at sunrise or sunset. Just beware that the bridge frequently raises for any tall sailboat!

Schooner Freedom Charters

Go on a sunset sail around the bay- especially beautiful during night of lights to see the city from the water!

Fountain of Youth Ticket Office

What Ponce de Leon was searching for in Florida- the mythical spring that restores the youth of anyone who drinks or bathes in its waters! The grounds of the fountain are very beautiful with a road lined by oak trees.

Washington Oaks Gardens State Park

Lovely gardens situated between the coastal scrub of the Matanzas River... then across A1A, the largest outcroppings of coquina rock on the Atlantic Ocean creates a picturesque boulder-strewn beach with tidal pools of sea critters.

Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve

A little bit of a drive from historic downtown...but our favorite place to hunt for shark teeth! Beautiful, quiet beaches and nature trails through the marshes to explore.
