Don't want to venture too far? Find one of many activities to do right at the hotel. They have golfing, a relaxing spa, hiking trails, and a pool/hot tub.
A 3 minute drive from The Paseo. Goldfield Ghost Town is full of the wild wild west. here you can slam a beer at the local saloon or watch a gun fight with the sheriff in town. Check out the Apache Trail Jeep Tour for something a little different.
Grand Canyon - south rim is about a 3.5 hour drive from Phoenix. Definitely worth the day trip if you have never seen it. Something to note is since this is north of Phoenix the temperatures do drop heavily, I recommend a winter jacket.
There is much more to do in Sedona than just this hike. Sedona is home to beautiful red rocks and is a 2 hour drive from Phoenix. You can make a day trip of it and enjoy many restaurants, wine trails, hikes, or a sunset horseback ride. However, keep in mind this destination is elevated so it is not as warm as Phoenix.
We have never done this, but if you want to feel like a true Arizonan a trail ride is the way to go. This is 3 minutes from The Paseo. Rides can be booked by going to Gold Field ghost Town. Prices are as follows: 1/2 hour...$35 1 hour...$45 2 hour...$75 3 hour...$105
Some would say top golf is "the bowling" of golf. A fun filled environment where you can eat and drink all while playing golf from your "lane" I would expect to have about an hour way if you go, and its about a 25 minute drive.
