We met on a snowy night just before Christmas break in 2014 at the University of Dayton, thanks to our dear friends Olivia and Patrick Murphy (thank you ❤). Matthew spent the next four weeks in Chicago with his family, while Katy was home in Indianapolis. What started as texting turned into phone calls, then even Skyping (!), until Matthew finally asked to drive Katy back to school in January—and the rest, as they say, is history. That was only the beginning. Eleven years later, after new loved ones, many zip codes, miles on our Subaru, movies, music festivals, hikes, campouts, and one very special floppy-eared, pink-nosed addition to our family, we’ve built a life that feels simple, steady, and quietly magical.
