Joseph's version "Funnily enough I used to live in Tuscaloosa, and I never thought I would come back. In fact, on my last day here I made a vow not to come back, but the Lord told me then that I would be coming back. He can ordain for people to meet in the strangest ways, ours happened to be a dating app. The first time I saw Katy I was blown away by the little I saw of her and knew I wanted to know more about this stranger in Tuscaloosa. Our first interaction was electric and not just because it was done on a phone. Her unique personality and interests matched mine perfectly. After a week of chatting, I knew I had to see her and pull out all the stops, for our first date. Dinner was too short and the restaurant closed, so I decided we should go for a walk in the park to keep the conversation flowing. Unfortunately, the night had to end at some point and I was already planning a second date before it was over. By the third date, I knew I wanted this to be official! Her godliness and love for Christ and others was so apparent and I wanted to see what else God had in store. After dating for a while, the time in between seeing her felt longer and longer until I couldn't imagine a life without her. So after much prayer, I started pulling out all the stops in planning the perfect proposal. She's very smart so I knew I had to be crafty, but it turns out everything went according to plan, especially her answer. I'm so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with such a godly future wife. I am looking forward to the many, many, many years to come." Katy's Version: "When I came to Alabama, I never thought I would meet the man God had for me. In fact, I was hesitant to date at all, for fear I didn't have time, but then I met Joseph the man with a plan. When Joseph first reached out I was surprised by how confident and direct he was. This was a man who got to the point and would not waste my time. In time, I would realize this confidence came from the Lord directing his every step. When Joseph asked me out for the first time he had everything planned, all he needed to know was when I was free. I had never had someone plan a date like this and was quite intrigued, but in getting ready for our date I went through at least 20 outfits and scared my dog with my first date jitters. However, when I first laid eyes on Joseph the world stopped for a minute. I never wanted our first date to end, but by the end of it, I was floored by how kind, caring, and smart this man was. By our fourth date, I knew he was unlike any man I had ever met. Over time Joseph continued to amaze me with how he sought God for everything in life, even convicting me in my walk with God and encouraging me to grow. He would continue to amaze me repeatedly with surprise dates that would go above and beyond my expectations. His patience with my puppy and me was exceptional. Joseph's heart for others became obvious as we served others and did ministry together. As I noticed all of these little things I fell in love with him more and more but the Lord kept revealing more daily. Eventually, the Lord put it on my heart to start praying about marriage, challenging me to go through the Bible and look at what a godly wife and husband were for reference points. We didn't know this at the time but the Lord had been pulling on both of us separately to do this. After talking through what the Lord had shown us we began to think about what life would look like as a married couple. I think Joseph already had a pretty good idea as the Lord had been speaking to him as well, he just had to wait for me to get my mind wrapped around it. But the rest will be history as they say... once we say I do. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with such a godly, patient, and kind man.
