It was Keeneland Fall Stars Day, the day of the Kentucky-LSU football game, and the day before Katy's birthday. Franklin put the ring in his pocket, determined to propose at Keeneland in his family's box, a place that had been an important part of his life and where he and Katy had shared so many memories. The day went on, but the right moment never came. Katy and Franklin left the track and went home to feed Cash and ride bikes to the stadium. Katy was watching the last Keeneland race of the day on her phone in their living room and when the race ended, she looked over and Franklin was on one knee in front of the fireplace. He asked her to marry him, she burst into tears, and the rest is history.
