I decided to join Match.com on somewhat of a whim. The first day I joined, I came across Brad's profile, which I initially "liked." He messaged me that very same day. We instantly connected on our love for dogs, the Veteran community we both belong to, and our sarcastic sense of humor. After a few days of talking, we had our first date, a bonfire at his house, while his mom was in town visiting. After meeting his mother on our first date, it was only appropriate that he meet mine, a few weeks later, on our third date while she was in town visiting. Soon after, and perhaps more nerve wracking, my one year old puppy Kahlua would have to meet his thirteen year old, 3-legged dog Daisy. As fate would have it, everyone got along and we have been inseparable since.
Brad had a ring custom made for me with an exquisite hand picked diamond. He called my Dad on his way to pick up the ring to ask for his permission. Of course my parents were together when he called, and they both undeniably approved. Brad told them on the phone he didn't know how long he would be able to wait to ask me. My parents later told me they jokingly made bets as to how long he would be able to keep it a secret. My Dad bet he wouldn't last a day and he was right. Brad proposed that very evening. Knowing my love for everything upstate New York, he stopped at the Raleigh Wegmans on his way home that same evening and got all of my favorite things from Gianelli sausage to Red Cat wine. He made me dinner and we sat outside on his back deck enjoying the evening with the dogs and goats when he proposed. When he told me that he called my father, I immediately started crying. Of course, I said yes. We cannot wait to celebrate the next chapter in our lives with all of you!
